How a TV show saved John who was wrongfully convicted for 35years

A wrongfully convicted man in Illinois has been released from prison after 35 years — thanks to an episode of "Mythbusters." John Galvan was sentenced to life in prison at age 18 after police allegedly coerced him into signing a confession stating that he'd lit a Molotov cocktail with a cigarette and thrown it into an apartment building, killing two men.⁠

But then one day in 2007, Galvan watched a rerun of "Mythbusters" from his prison cell that proved it was impossible to ignite gasoline with a cigarette.

That same year, the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives even released a study confirming the "Mythbusters" episode, and a court determined that the State's case against Galvan was "nonexistent."
